NINE LIVES CAT RESCUE

Membership Details and Form

Nine Lives Cat Rescue was founded in April 1994. Many of the original volunteers had worked for some years with a large national cat charity and, so, came with a variety of experience and knowledge about cat welfare. The main objectives for the Charity is to rescue stray, abandoned and unwanted cats and kittens and whenever possible to rehome or resite them at suitable locations.

One of the most important parts of our work is to promote the neutering of all adult cats, both male and female before they become sexually active, i.e. at 5-6 months of age. There are too many unwanted cats and kittens every year, and we believe the only way to get over this problem is to encourage people to have their cats neutered.

All our adult cats are neutered before they are rehomed, if they are not already neutered when they come into our care.

The new owners of all kittens that we find homes for are issued with a neutering certificate the month before the kitten becomes six months old, and the they must get this stamped and signed by the veterinary surgeon as proof that the neutering has been carried out. No kitten is ever homed if the prospective owner intends to breed from it.

We do not make a charge for our cats and kittens but we do ask for the adopter to make a donation to our costs.

Our rescued cats and kittens are cared for by volunteers in their own homes. Some have purpose built cat pens, others use a spare room. These foster homes are in Southampton, Romsey and Winchester.

All volunteers give their time and care to the cats and kittens freely; we pay for all cat food and litter and cover veterinary costs while they are in our care.

Although the Charity's headquarters is in the home of the organiser, Susan Smith, which is in a village outside of Romsey, the Organisation will try to help cats wherever the need arises. We have been able to offer help as far away as Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Southampton and Winchester.

So, please, do join us and make a donation if you can. You will receive our quarterly magazine to keep you informed about our work and any forthcoming events. If you are able to offer help then please indicate this on the reverse of the membership form.

GIFT AID DECLARATION
Nine Lives Cat Rescue
(Charity Registration Number 1051280)

GIFT AID - HOW TO MAKE YOUR CHARITABLE GIFT WORK HARDER

You may have heard that the Government has relaxed the rules on Gift Aid so that charities can reclaim tax on all donations made by UK taxpayers since 6 April 2000. Prior to this there was a £250.00 minimum, but now all donations from taxpayers are eligible.

This means that for every £1.00 donated, we can reclaim 28p from the Inland Revenue. For example, if you give £10.00 using Gift Aid, the gift would be worth £12.82 to Nine Lives Cat Rescue.

If you are a UK taxpayer and would like to help us increase the value of any donations (including membership fees) you have already made or will make in the future, please complete, sign, date and return the form below to us with your membership form at the address overleaf.

I would like Nine Lives Cat rescue (Registered Charity No. 1051280) to treat my donation of £. . . . made after 6 April 2000 and any donations I may make from the date of this declaration until I notify you otherwise, as Gift Aid donations.
